Tips for future Freshman

This is my last blog post :(. It's been great and I have loved sharing my life. I wasn't able to complete all my goals that I started out with. I did begin trying to get the word out about the r-word but I wasn't able to get SO College started. I'm going to work on it for next year. In my final post, I want to post some of my tips for future Freshman going to college.
1) Be yourself!- You should never be anyone but yourself but if you don't like drinking, don't do it because you feel like this is the only way you will get friends. I am proud to say, I didn't give in and drink and I found a group of friends and a boyfriend who appreciate me for it.
2) Don't do laundry on a friday night or a saturday morning- Odds are the machines will be full. Mondays and Tuesdays are the best days. Late morning or early afternoon are the best times I have found as well.
3) Don't be afraid to make yourself go to bed early some nights- You will appreciate it the next day. Naps are also good :).
4)Don't overpack- You will take so many clothes thinking you will wear them but most likely half of them will sit in your closet all year. When move out day comes you will not want to haul them all home.
5)Walks are good- If you are bored, walks are great. They allow you to get to have fun or really deep chats with your friend and you are not being lazy at the same time.
6) Don't settle for a bad roommate- If you don't like where you live or who you live with, get out. If you aren't happy in your room, you won't ever want to be there and that's no fun.
7)Spend at least an hour each day doing something you want to if you can-It is easy to get your schedule booked and become overwhelmed so sometimes you just need some me time to blow off your stress.
8)Don't assume after high school friendships are over- You can make new friends in college and keep your old ones. It is harder to keep your high school friends but you have to work at it some if you want it to happen.
9)Find a club or activity to match your interests- A good way to make friends is to find something you like and people who like it as well.
10)Enjoy each day- You make memories to last you a lifetime so make them count. Make going to college fun while you are learning and becoming that much closer to your degree.

Thank you God for blessing me with such a great year! Here's to 3 more just like it :).

Top Freshman Memories

So my freshman year was full of many great memories. I want to share my favorite ones. I had so many so it was hard to choose but here are a few for you.

1) When I started dating Derrick- this is probably a given but he made the last month and a week of college great -from our Walking Dead and Marvel movie nights to our walks around campus. He always puts a smile on my face.

2) Becoming YAC president- I love this group so much and am honored that they elected me as their president for this year. We our able to share our passion for SOMO and have a great time.

3)Pulling an all-nighter with Kaitlin, Kaci, and Megan- I was tired the next day but that was a really fun night. My stomach hurt from laughing so much. Every college student has to stay up at least once and now we can check that off our to do list.

4)Being roommates with Katie first semester an Kaitlin second semester-I couldn't leave either of these girls out because I loved being roommates with both of them. First semester Katie and I would have our late night talks, our trips to the gym, and random laughing moments. Second semester Kaitlin and I would have our spray bottle vs water gun fights, awkward staring moments, and our afternoons swimming.

5)Going to CCH- I can't just pick out one thing that I did at CCH this semester that was a great memory because they all are. The week of welcome events helped me meet so many people who are now my really good friends. The formal was a blast dancing with the Show-Me youth home kids and getting to dress up. Being in a small group and getting to grow together with a grow of girls and God at the same time was inspiring. I love that so many people go to CCH and don't fall under college's peer pressures.

6)Spring break in Florida-I had never been before and I loved the ocean and getting to spend a few days in paradise with my friends. I got an experience of a lifetime.

You'll Always Find Your Way Back Home

Well Freshman year is over! It went so fast and it was great! This morning I got up and studied some for Ecology and then went to take my last final. When I got done, I came back to the room and carried the rest of my stuff down to my room. Kaitlin and I finished cleaning the room then went to CCH for their finals breakfast. Megan David cooked some pretty delicious chocolate chip pancakes. After hanging out with everyone for a little bit we said our goodbyes and left. We ran into Russ and Kaci on our way back and were able to say goodbye to them. Hannah came and inspected my room so that I could leave. Derrick came over and said goodbye to me- one of the hardest things. I don't think it will sink in until tomorrow when I won't get to see him or the rest of my college friends. I left the Burg and headed home for the summer. I stopped at Sonic in Macon for lunch and then was on my way again. I stopped by the school to see mom and catch up with some other people. When I was sitting in Mrs. Cohagon's room, her daughter, Kelsey, came in and asked me what college I went to. Then she was like oh you go to the donkey academy. I felt this was pretty clever coming from a 3rd grader lol. I came home and unloaded some stuff. I went and got see the 10 new additions to the family. They are soo cute! I of course had to watch Friends for a little bit and then I unloaded the rest of my stuff. My mom brought a Casey's Taco Pizza home :). After dinner, I put Glee on an started unpacking. I have no idea where the year went! Even though today was the last day. I am still going to 2 more blog posts to sum up the year. I know this blog is early tonight but this girl is exhausted. I have to have as much energy as possible to take a two year old tomorrow. I am excited to spend the day with Casen tomorrow and to get to watch him some over the summer. Well good night!

Lord, you never let go of me

Well today was my last full day in the burg. Tomorrow I will leave after my 8 am final. It was really a bitter sweet day. I am excited to be home for the summer but I don't want to leave my friends or Derrick. So in my last blog Kaitlin, Megan, Kaci and I were pulling an all nighter. It turned out to be pretty great even though I payed the price today for it. We stayed up until 6:20 this morning. We spent all night watching Spongebob, New Year's Eve, eating junk food and spamming facebook. Kaci changed her name to Trale Lewous so we all decided to change our names. Kaitlin changed hers to Felafel Phil so I changed mine to Kaitlin Craney and it was hilarious. Then we decided it would be funny if we changed our name to one person so we picked Lauren since she was still awake. We went through and liked all her stuff so it said Lauren Maxwell was with Lauren Maxwell times 3 lol. We confused everyone on facebook and my stomach hurt from laughing so much at it. When 6 a.m rolled around we went outside and watched the sunrise together to finish the morning. Kaci and Megan went to their finals and Kaitlin and I went to bed. We slept until noon so we only got 5 and half hours of sleep. Mrs. Eddy unfortunately passed away this morning. She was a very special woman and will be missed. Since I obviously wasn't making it to lunch, I ate my Applebee's leftovers in my room. I went and paid off the $6 on my student bill from buying mount boards for expo and then went and picked up my prints. Derrick came over and hung out with my for a couple hours. Spongebob was on so he wasn't to happy about that. At 4 I had my conference call with Terri who works for MASC. Our chat went really good. Then I attempted to study for Ecology until dinner.I carried some stuff out to my car and then ate dinner with all of my friends for the last time before summer. I tried to study a little bit more before DIG. I walked over to CCH for the last DIG of the semester with Derrick,Kaci, Katie, Lauren and Justin. God works in mysterious ways and sometimes it is really hard to understand them. I was really stressing about Ecology and then we sang Never Let Go which was kind of God saying I've got this and I'm not letting you handle it by yourself. Jennah Wright, the women's campus minister, is unfortunately leaving because she and her family moved to Sedalia which at least isn't to far away but I'm sad to see her go. Derrick and I went on a walk after CCH. He was a very good listener and let me rant to him about my stress. We ran into Morgan and Sean during our walk. After saying good night to Derrick, I studied for Ecology some more. I packed some stuff and now I am headed to bed since I have an early final. I haven't had to wake up at 7 in several months at least but get to tomorrow :/. Well good night!

Yum Ryan Reynoldsey

Today is the best last Tuesday in the burg that anyone could have asked for! I did have a P.R. final at 11 but that didn't bother me too bad. I got to sleep until 10 which was great. After my P.R. final, my teacher gave us our last press release back and I got a good grade on it. There is hope of pulling a good grade out of that class. After my test I went and ate lunch even though no one else was there. I decided to go sell one of my books back and it started pouring. I ran and got my umbrella from my car then walked to the union. I ran into Derrick on the way, getting done with his final. Russ, James and I waited in the buy back line. I was able to get most of the money back for the bed. Usually I don't like the rain but it was a sunny rain which I don't mind. Kaitlin wasn't back yet so I went and hung out with Derrick, Kaci, Luke and Russ. They played Smash Brothers and I watched. Then they started Transformers 3 but I came back so I could go swimming with Kaitlin. There was like no one at the pool when we got there and it was so nice. We stayed for an hour and got a nice work out and enjoyed the water. When we got back, we watched some Spongebob until dinner. It was just James, Kaitlin, Lauren and I for dinner. The others were busy doing other things. We came back and Megan and Kaci came watched Glee with us. Katie came in about half way and watched it. It was a pretty good episode. Derrick came over after Glee was over and hung out until we left to go eat at Applebee's with our small group. Kaitlin, Kaci, Kirstin, Kimberly, Nora and I all ate at Applebee's and just hung out. It was alot of fun and nice to get to hang out with my small group one last time before summer. Nora, Kaci, Kaitlin and I went to walmart afterwards and got some junk food since we decided to pull an all nighter tonight. Not for any reason just because it's the typical college thing and we haven't gotten to do it before so we are. Now we are all hanging out in the room. Milk, chocolate, and spongebob! Tonight's blog title is because Kaitlin was pouring us some milk and she poured Megan's into a tangled couple and mine into a green lantern cup. Megan was like yum tangley. Then I was like yes mine is the green lantern and she was like yum ryan reynoldsey lol. This could be interesting to see how long we actually stay awake. well good night to you guys even though I will still be up for awhile :).
