This is my last blog post :(. It's been great and I have loved sharing my life. I wasn't able to complete all my goals that I started out with. I did begin trying to get the word out about the r-word but I wasn't able to get SO College started. I'm going to work on it for next year. In my final post, I want to post some of my tips for future Freshman going to college.
1) Be yourself!- You should never be anyone but yourself but if you don't like drinking, don't do it because you feel like this is the only way you will get friends. I am proud to say, I didn't give in and drink and I found a group of friends and a boyfriend who appreciate me for it.
2) Don't do laundry on a friday night or a saturday morning- Odds are the machines will be full. Mondays and Tuesdays are the best days. Late morning or early afternoon are the best times I have found as well.
3) Don't be afraid to make yourself go to bed early some nights- You will appreciate it the next day. Naps are also good :).
4)Don't overpack- You will take so many clothes thinking you will wear them but most likely half of them will sit in your closet all year. When move out day comes you will not want to haul them all home.
5)Walks are good- If you are bored, walks are great. They allow you to get to have fun or really deep chats with your friend and you are not being lazy at the same time.
6) Don't settle for a bad roommate- If you don't like where you live or who you live with, get out. If you aren't happy in your room, you won't ever want to be there and that's no fun.
7)Spend at least an hour each day doing something you want to if you can-It is easy to get your schedule booked and become overwhelmed so sometimes you just need some me time to blow off your stress.
8)Don't assume after high school friendships are over- You can make new friends in college and keep your old ones. It is harder to keep your high school friends but you have to work at it some if you want it to happen.
9)Find a club or activity to match your interests- A good way to make friends is to find something you like and people who like it as well.
10)Enjoy each day- You make memories to last you a lifetime so make them count. Make going to college fun while you are learning and becoming that much closer to your degree.
Thank you God for blessing me with such a great year! Here's to 3 more just like it :).
